Bricks & Makers - the Saffron Walden store which showcases the talents of independent UK designers and makers, many of them local - is celebrating its first birthday this autumn. With stock spanning homewares, toys, stationery, pamper products, jewellery and more, everything is sourced with charm, quality, integrity and sustainability uppermost in mind.

Says founder Catriona Mackenzie, who was spurred to realise her shop-owning dream by a surge in free retail space post-lockdown: “We are thrilled to be celebrating our first birthday in Saffron Walden: meeting our customers and getting to know our regulars has been wonderful and we are delighted to have launched our website too.”

With current top-sellers including handmade soaps, bath salts and wooden flowers - now available in brooch form - from fan-favourite brand Daphne Rosa, “I love sourcing our wonderful range of products,” adds Catriona. “Championing sustainable and locally made products, we are committed to offering a range of exceptional products from UK-based makers and designers only.”
