It’s a year since a new team took over Heydon’s King William IV – and they’re giving away a meal for two to celebrate. . .

They only took the helm of the 16th century inn at the end of last year, but the team at Heydon’s ing William IV have fast gained a reputation for the warmth of their welcome and the quality of their food.

Refreshing the decor while retaining the pub’s many period features - beamed ceilings, open fires, wooden table tops suspended from ages-old chains - Carole Ord-Jackson, son Alex and their chefs have also revamped the menu.

Taking a field-to-fork approach, tailoring dishes to locally sourced and in-season ingredients, current favourites include starter of wood pigeon with autumn raspberries, walnuts and brioche and main-course sea trout with carrots, radish, saffron potatoes and salsa verde.
