As anyone lucky enough to go to last year’s debut event will know, Cambridge Botanic Lights is absolutely magical. A festive lights trail like no other, it highlights the Botanic Garden’s much-loved landscape, with its dramatic trees, glittering glasshouses and focal water lily fountain, using both illuminations and art installations.

Back from last year by popular demand, a highlight promises to be the giant floating flowers on the lake, their rainbow-bright lights reflected and refracted in the water’s surface. The hit light tunnel is returning too, though most of the displays are being newly created for this year.

With the garden’s café opening late and food stalls set halfway around the route, serving hot drinks and light bites, we’ve got a family ticket to this year’s trail - for two adults and two children, worth more than £60 - to give away this month.
