WIN: Tickets for Cambridge Folk Festival **CLOSED**
It’s one of the longest running and most famous folk festivals in the world, so tickets are like gold dust. But, don’t despair, as we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away for the Cambridge Folk Festival weekend, worth £410, plus access to the VIP viewing area for Stage 1 and a complimentary programme!
The thrilling and diverse line up for the folk extravaganza, which takes place in the beautiful grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall, July 27 to 30, includes four-time Grammy award winner Angélique Kidjo, whose music is a melting pot of the West African traditions of her childhood in Benin and elements of American R&B, funk and jazz.
The strong female folk contingent continues with Irish songbird Imelda May, renowned for her crystalline voice, and genre-defying sound.
It's a festival first for captivating Los Angeles vocalist Lady Blackbird, who mixes original songs with updates of classic jazz ballads and deep soul cuts.
Whilst Queen of Folk, Kate Rusby, whose 2022 album 30: Happy Returns, celebrated three decades in the industry, will share songs old and new with her loyal Cambridge following.
Continuing a long history with the talented Wainwright family, the festival welcomes headliner Rufus Wainwright, whose originality and heartfelt melodies have established him as one of the greatest male vocalists and songwriters of his generation.
Upping the tempo, Scotland’s iconic Reid twins, AKA The Proclaimers, will get the party started with blistering live performances from their boisterous back catalogue, including 500 Miles and Sunshine on Leith.
Making his Cambridge debut will be Hollywood royalty, Kiefer Sutherland, best known for playing protagonist Jack Bauer in the hit TV series 24, and now a well-respected musician with three critically-acclaimed albums under his belt.
Other outstanding musicians on the bill include progressive rap collective Arrested Development; protest singer and LGBTQ+ activist Grace Petrie and Cornwall’s sea shanty kings, Fisherman’s Friends.
Besides the mind-blowing music offering, there’s an array of children’s activities, a silent disco, storytelling, clog dancing, tai-chi, and mouth-watering food trucks and bars from some of Cambridge's finest food merchants.
