What's On: Visit a virtual art trail

We may not be able to walk through Thetford Forest in person this month, but we can pay a virtual visit via Future Forest, a series of site-specific art installations marking 100 years of the Forestry Commission.

Photos of the life-size ‘custodians of the forest’ (created by sculptor Lisa Wright) in their dramatic stage settings (constructed by artistic director Tom Piper) can be viewed at forestryengland.uk/100/future-forest until May 30.

There’s even a learning pack, ideal for home-schoolers, to download.

The figures, made from planet-friendly bio resin and painted with flowers and foliage, are, say their creator, designed to represent “all of our young people and the part they will play in safeguarding the forest into the next 100 years”.
