Why Nicole Farhi is turning heads . . .

By Alice Ryan

Nicole Farhi, the much-feted French fashion designer, is staging her first solo sculpture show right on our doorstep – at Sudbury’s Gainsborough House.

Tutored, then mentored, by the legendary Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, she’s been sculpting full-time for five years and Nicole Farhi: Heads and Hands is the result.

You’ll find numerous famous faces among the portraits – created in clay, then cast – from stage-and-screen stars (Judi Dench, Helena Bonham Carter) to artists (Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon) to American Vogue’s Anna Wintour (pictured, foreground).
