Primadonna Fest: Book now for books, comedy and cabaret
From debates and discos to yoga, bread baking and ghost walks, the lineup for Suffolk’s Primadonna Festival could not be cooler. . .
If you’ve never been to Primadonna, the Suffolk festival “for people who love books. And ideas. And interesting conversations. And music in the sunshine. And good food in a field. And comedy and cabaret and workshops for the mind, body and soul”, this is the year to go.
Famed for giving the spotlight to women, Black and Asian artists, the LGBTQIA+ community, disabled and working-class people, this year’s lineup includes conversations with actor and comedian Doon Mackichan (on rollicking new memoir My Lady Parts), music PR legend Jane Savidge (on Pulp, Britpop and How Fame Can Let You Down), diversity and inclusion campaigners Aspire Black Suffolk and The Feminist Book Society.
Plus there are ghost walks, cabaret shows, creative writing workshops, yoga classes, wellness therapies and a happiness disco. You can even hang out with heavy horses, watch a sheepdog demo and bake a loaf in the shape of a hedgehog: what more could you want?
Primadonna runs July 26 to 28 at Stowmarket’s Food Museum. Tickets - priced £60/£40 concession for the full weekend - at primadonnafestival.com
