More: To commemorate the Jubilee, Ely Cathedral will display the official replica of HM The Queen’s Coronation Dress, commissioned by Harrods in 2012 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, and worn by Claire Foy in the sumptuous Netflix drama, The Crown. There’ll also be floral tributes to the Queen inspired by her passions, from horseracing to The Royal Yacht Britannia. Make a day of it and add a tour, followed by a Champagne Jubilee Afternoon Tea at the Almonry.

What: A Right Royal Tour

Get involved: Do you like celebrity spotting? Well, join this Platinum Jubilee tour, and meet a fine selection of ‘royal’ dignitaries, linked to Ely. Start your regal pilgrimage with Mrs Cromwell (at her house), then head into Ely, where you’re likely to bump into Henry VIII, William the Conqueror and Queen Victoria, to name but a few. Finish the tour at Ely Riverside, with a glass of ‘fizz’ to toast the Queen!

What: Cambridgeshire County Day
Where: July Course, Newmarket Racecourses
When: June 23
Get involved: Later in the month, Cambridgeshire County Day will be a spectacular celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, showcasing the best of the county’s business, charity, community and public sectors. There’ll be a garden party, music, theatre performances, horseracing, and a proportion of the proceeds will go to the new world-leading Cambridge-based Regional Children’s Hospital. Perfect.

What: Ely’s Jubil-Eel Day

Get involved: Don red, white and blue and party likes it’s 1952 at the Big Ely Street Party, which will feature live music, dancing and street food galore. Part of the ever-popular Ely Eel Day, which this year celebrates both the rich history of Ely and the Queen’s momentous milestone, the action fittingly takes place at Jubilee Gardens! Look out for the colourful Eel Parade as it snakes its way through the city.

What: Art Installation
Where: Grand Arcade shopping centre, Cambridge
When: May 27-June 5
Get involved: Camera at the ready as Grand Arcade has worked with Cambridge charity Rowan, to create a stunning backdrop in homage to the queen. Rowan supports adults with learning disabilities, offering a creative and enriching environment where arts are used as a tool to tackle social exclusion. Rowan’s art tutors and students, commissioned by Grand Arcade, have designed a wall featuring a giant crown made of purple flowers. Pop along to get your patriotic picture on your next trip into town!

What: Picnic in the Park
Where: Cottenham Recreation Ground, Lambs Lane

Get involved: Dig out the picnic basket and pack yourself up a feast fit for a Queen (Corgi-print rug anyone?). Lay down your own picnic blanket or pop up a gazebo, then enjoy the ambience as you raise a toast to our monarch. Get involved: If parties aren’t your thing, you might prefer a trip to IWM Duxford, where a new programme explores the role of the crown in conflict, tracing the Queen’s personal experience of war, via an aircraft and object trail.
