Art: Winter Open Studios returns to Cambridge

Look out for the yellow flags in Petersfield this weekend: six local artists are opening their studios to show and sell their work for Christmas

Home to some of the city’s loveliest indie shops and cafes, a trip to Cambridge’s Mill Road in the run-up to Christmas is always a treat - and, thanks to six local artists, you can make a full day of it this coming weekend.

To coincide with the final Mill Road Saturday of the season, which sees craft and charity stalls, buskers and buntings line the street, the Petersfield artists are opening their respective studios on December 4 and 5.

With their work spanning painting, drawing, printing, mixed media and photography, the artists are: Alison Litherland (25 Sturton Street), Rosemary Catling (10 Gwydir Street), Nathan Huxtable (8 Gwydir Street), Jonny Church (11 Upper Gwydir Street), John Tordoff (38 Norfolk Street) and Mark Alvarez (39 Norfolk Street).

Visitors can browse and buy cards and smaller gifts as well as original works and enjoy a chat - and even a glass of mulled wine - with the artists.

The studios will be open 11am to 4pm both days. To find out more about the artists, find their bios at cambridgeopenstudios.co.uk
