Charities: Give a gift to two great Cambridge causes this Christmas
If you’re able, consider putting an extra gift on your list this Christmas, to support two vital Cambridge causes
CHS Group Shoebox Appeal
Putting parcels under the tree for people who otherwise might not get a present, CHS Group’s Shoebox Appeal is asking those who can to add one more name to their gift list this Christmas.
Supporting individuals across Cambridge, Ely and Wisbech who face a wide range of challenges, including 16-24-year-olds who would otherwise be homeless and people with learning disabilities and facing mental health issues, the charitable housing association and social enterprise is running the appeal for a fifth year.
Supporting is simple: fill a box with gender-neutral items - toiletries, clothing, pyjamas, sweets, treats, stationery, gift cards - wrap it and add a personal note, then drop it off at one of six collection points across the area by December 15.
Full details, including gift packing instructions, drop-off locations and opening times, can be found HERE
Cambridge City Foodbank Christmas Hamper Appeal
Cambridge City Foodbank is also asking people to support its ninth annual Christmas Hamper Appeal. Organised in partnership with Cambridge Sustainable Food and the City Council, it invites individuals, groups and businesses to donate a hamper packed with everything from festive treats and store-cupboard staples to essential hygiene products. The foodbank has distributed 14% more food over the year, compared to 2022, meaning need is greater now than ever.
Donations should be registered ahead of collection, which will take place on December 10 and 12 - click HERE
