Out & About: The best snowdrop displays in Cambridge and Suffolk
It’s snowdrop season: winter is officially on its way out. . . Here’s where best to see the bulbs in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk
As the frosts thaw, the snowdrops bow their tiny heads to signal the first signs of spring. With more than 500 varieties, Anglesey Abbey’s collection is one of the best in the country, writes Melanie Taylor of Hazelwood Plantscapes.
The National Trust property, located just outside Cambridge in Lode, is running guided snowdrop tours of the grounds from January 27 to February 28, every day of the week except Saturday. Tours take place at 11am and 1.30pm on these days and there is no need to pre-book - just tell a member of the welcome team that you would like to join a tour and you will be given a ticket.
Other local snowdrop openings include Chippenham Park, Chippenham; Fullers Mill Garden, West Stow; Kentwell Hall near Long Melford; and Benington Lordship Gardens near Stevenage - check their respective websites for dates.
