Homes: Learn how to design your own interiors
Founder of Saffron Walden interior design company The Emerald Lounge Jana Robinson is hosting a full-day masterclass at Duxford's The Lodge this month
Whether you’re planning a floor-to-rafters house revamp or simply want to makeover a single room, interior designer Jana Robinson promises to give you all the tools, tips and inspiration you need to devise and realise your own scheme.
Founder of Saffron Walden interior design company The Emerald Lounge, Jana is hosting a full-day masterclass at The Lodge - the Duxford hotel which has itself been recently renovated - this month.
With the morning Design Your Own Home session dedicated to discovering the perfect colour scheme and determining your choices on a mood board, after lunch, which is provided, it’s time for Interior Design Secrets, which will see Jana share advice on the use of everything from pattern and texture to lighting, plants and styling.
“It is these finishing touches that will help you make your room one of a kind; one that is full of your personality, energy and joy,” she explains. “My biophilic approach to interiors works with all my clients and I will be sharing my vision with you too.”
Working one-to-one with clients as well as running masterclasses, Jana launched The Emerald Lounge “for those who want to learn about the exciting journey of designing a room from the beginning to the end”.
It was renovating her own family home, three years ago now, which gave Jana the idea: “I realised there is a gap in the market for those that have genuine interest in interiors and want to have a go themselves, but this time understanding why their choices are the right ones. How amazing would it be if there was a destination that teaches home owners the basics from working with colour to styling and everything in between?”
Her services proved an immediate hit, with one reviewer saying she left a masterclass “Inspired, energised, educated”. “After giving people the taste of possibilities,” adds Jana, “they were hooked on the prospect of actually understanding how to work with colour and its positive properties. They realised that by stepping out of their comfort zone, banishing white walls and being a little bolder with their choices definitely pays off.”
Taking place on Mother’s Day weekend, March 26, Jana’s masterclass at The Lodge is, she adds, “an invitation to join our tribe of bold decision-makers. This promises to be a fun masterclass full of inspiration, pushing the boundaries in residential interiors, with my foolproof printed guide to take home and use when you are ready for your project.”
Tickets can be booked for either the full day or, if you’re already confident with colour, for the afternoon Interior Design Secrets session alone. For prices and to book visit www.theemeraldlounge.co.uk.
