Feels Like Home
With more than 40 sellers under one beautiful beamed roof, Homemade @ The Barn, the Bassingbourn home and gift emporium, is the definition of a treasure trove. You’ll find everything from lamps and light pulls, pressed glass and chopping boards to knitted cacti, reel furniture, soy candles, wooden clocks, baby clothes and even fresh flowers.
The brainchild of former teacher Sally Stone, Homemade started in the summer of last year. It was, she says, a long-held dream to have “a shop where people can come and sit, chat and browse, make friends, pass on stories to one another. . .”
But it wasn’t until Sally left teaching and started selling her own upcycled and decoupaged furniture that her dream became reality.
“I contacted my craft fair contacts and asked them to sell in Homemade and we opened our doors. I have, over the year, expanded beyond my dreams and am still hoping for more. I now have more 40 sellers based in Homemade, selling gifts and homewares. We stock vintage, retro and purely second-time-round items too.”
An official stockist for Autentico Paint, Sally can also source specific pieces for clients. “Three of us upcycle furniture, all in differing styles,” she adds, “so please drop by to see what we can do for you and your tired furniture.”
