Christmas: Pay a virtual visit to Blackthorpe Barn
A visit to Rougham's Blackthorpe Barn is a festive fixture for many. Thanks to a new virtual version of Christmas at Blackthorpe, this year will be no exception
A chance to browse and buy gifts, decorations, arts and crafts and even pay a virtual visit to Santa’s grotto, Blackthorpe Barn is taking its festivities online this year. A fixture of Christmas for many, the entire Blackthorpe experience will be recreated on the barn’s website - save for purchase of the home-grown Rougham Estate Christmas trees, which will still be made outdoor onsite.
“Things have changed so much since we were open for Christmas last year. Who would have imagined what was about to happen to us all? However, the team are doing everything possible to ensure the essence of Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn is captured online,” says George Agnew, owner of Blackthorpe Barn and the surrounding estate.
From October 1, the Country Christmas Shop will be live, offering everything from lights, baubles and wrap to presents for all the family, even the pets. It will be accompanied by a British Crafts marketplace, showing and selling the usual wide range of handmade items, from pottery to jewellery, clothes to toys, also giving people the opportunity to contact and buy direct from the makers.
Thanks to the virtual grotto, children aged 2 to 9 will still be able to meet Father Christmas face-to-face via computer link: tickets can be booked online as usual, with a meeting link and choice of surprise presents sent to mums and dads in advance of the big day.
Both fresh-cut and pot-grown trees will be available, cashless payment only, from November 27 until December 22, when the barn’s Christmas Cafe will also be serving alfresco from a kiosk. “We are pleased to still be able to offer our Christmas trees from the barn and look forward to seeing some of you when you are choosing your tree,” adds George, “and I look forward to seeing all of you in person again, at Blackthorpe Barn itself next year.”
