Book It: Summer flower days at Flourish farm
Flourish Flower Days are a chance to pick your own blooms and learn how to arrange them (after a home-cooked picnic lunch) on the Hildersham farm
Started with 16 acres of hard-farmed land and a pair of heavy horses, Calixta Killander’s old-school organic enterprise in Hildersham, Flourish Produce, is now blooming - literally. Billowing with delphiniums and dahlias come high summer, Calixta is opening her field of native cutting flowers this year.
Running on August 7 and September 11 - the first date, in July, is already a sell-out - the new Flourish Flower Days will begin with coffee and a farm tour, followed by the chance to pick your own bucket of blooms. After breaking for a picnic lunch, made with produce grown on the farm, a guest florist will demonstrate how best to display your stems.
All you need to take along is a vase of your choice, a pair of snips, comfy shoes, a bottle of water and some spends if you’d like to add a celebratory glass of fizz to your lunch. Priced £75 per person or £140 for two, it sounds like a dream summer day; with places booking at pace, head to flourishproduce.co.uk now to avoid disappointment.
