Concerned that Cambridge charity Rowan (an arts centre for adults with learning disabilities) would miss out on vital fundraising during lockdown, its Chair, Rosalind Morgan, took to her bike to tackle an epic challenge. Rosalind decided to pedal the length of Britain, cycling the distance of John o’ Groats to Land’s End, on her home exercise bike. Nicknaming her challenge, the JOGLE, she set off on March 24, enlisting the help of friend Mary, to fill her in on fascinating landmarks along the virtual route.
On day 74 – June 5 – she reached her destination, clocking up 47 hours and 41 minutes in the saddle, covering 981.06 miles and burning 26,044 calories. Rosalind’s valiant efforts have so far raised more than £2,000. You can read about her lockdown achievement at rowanhumberstone.co.uk, and donate at localgiving.org/charity/rowan/.
