LET’S DANCE
How would you like to work with the choreographer that masterminded Beyonce’s killer routines or the coach behind Broadway smash Hamilton? Bodywork Company Cambridge Dance Studio is offering an exclusive new 12-week course in commercial dance, bringing together the crème de la crème of industry talent to teach cutting-edge choreography and techniques.
Among the inspiring teachers will be world famous hip-hop dancer John Graham, who has worked with Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, and Justin Bieber; ZooNation Dance Company’s Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, choreographer for acclaimed hit-musical SIX, and resident choreographer on Hamilton; renowned krump dancer Duwane Taylor; and Cece Nama, who performs with Zara Larsson and Ed Sheeran.
With just 20 places available, competition is set to be as fierce as a Beyonce hip thrust. Plus, 99 per cent of Bodywork’s alumni go on to work in shows such as Magic Mike, Motown The Musical and The Lion King, within a year of graduating, making this a dream opportunity for any dancer.

SUPERDAD REACHES SCOTLAND
Cambridge dad-of-three Chris Howard, who is walking the coast of mainland Britain to raise money for Children In Need, has reached Scotland. Chris, who set off from Norfolk in March 2020 – has been surviving with minimal kit and relying on the kindness of strangers along the way. Though covid lockdowns hampered his progress, the coast walking dad is now 65 per cent of the way through his epic challenge and has raised £25k so far.
“I think I’ve walked over 6,000 miles now and I’m averaging about 80k steps a day, but Scotland is a challenge of its own; solitude and mountains make life hard going,” he tells Velvet. “My spirits are high as ever though and my feet are in good shape plus the people I meet are very friendly and helpful.”
Chris is boosting his fundraising efforts by offering Zoom talks to businesses whilst on his coastal pilgrimage, and he hopes to be stepping into Cambridge for his grand finale walk before Christmas.
