Hottest Ticket
If you’re feeling bored of pounding the streets alone, with only your Garmin or Fitbit for company, perhaps it’s time to sign up to a race? This month, Histon plays host to the eighth Flaming June Half Marathon (and 10K), boasting a unique rural multi-terrain course around the pretty village. Said to be ‘one of the friendliest runs in Cambridgeshire’, it promises to be a fantastic community event, with runners setting off in waves of 30, to minimise covid risk.
The half marathon and 10K, taking place on Sunday, June 21, are organised by Friends of Histon & Impington Community. Each runner will receive a race medal, plus there’ll be trophies for winners in various age categories. On your marks. . .

Here Come the Girls
Sign up for the biggest pyjama party in Suffolk and smash your 10,000 daily step goal by taking part in this year’s Girls’ Night Out on September 11. Don your finest nightwear and pop on your bunny ears, to join a bunch of likeminded ladies stepping out for an evening stroll in memory of loved ones, to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Walkers can choose between distances of six or 11.2 miles, setting off from Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds. This year’s event, supported by main sponsor Suffolk-based developer Jaynic, will raise vital funds for the hospice, which supports people and families facing life-shortening illnesses.
Participants pay a £20 registration fee (£15 if you sign up before July 2), which includes bunny ears, a medal and cake on completion.
The event is roadmap dependant so check the website for the latest updates.
