Known for good food, fine wines and cracking cocktails, we thought d’Arry’s, the restaurant and liquor loft on Cambridge’s King Street, couldn’t get more delicious. And then it opened an onsite cheese shop, The Cheesemonger, specialising in expertly matured varieties sourced from Britain’s most acclaimed artisan makers.

“This isn't just any cheese counter,” say the d’Arry’s team. “It's an immersive, climate-controlled room brimming with wheels of Britain's finest artisan cheeses, expertly matured by Rennet & Rind’s Perry Wakeman - reigning Affineur of the Year for two consecutive years.”

The Cheesemonger also stocks all the accompaniments you could crave, including luxury chutney, olives, crackers, charcuterie and a vast selection of wines, both British and beyond.

The team’s current pick of the counter? “Our Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, which has been meticulously aged for 14 to 16 months, unlocking a depth of flavour that is both assertive and elegant. . . expect a symphony of savoury notes – nutty, buttery and luxuriously rich.” Who could resist?
