Opening: Raise a glass to Cambridge's Wine Rooms
Just opened on the city's Hills Road, the venture aims to "bring new flavours and experiences to the heart of Cambridge"
Described as “a truly inspirational destination venue that has a relaxed vibe but with quality and seasonality at its heart”, The Wine Rooms has just opened on Cambridge’s Hills Road. Alongside a list of “interesting and niche wines, fine and rare bottles, and for those hard to find gems, an off-site fine-wine cellar that can be called upon at 24 hours notice”, there’s also a “small but focussed, seasonal menu” with matching in mind, explains the man at the reins, John Jaswilowicz.
“We also aim to provide exceptional value for money, where a bottle purchased from our shop can be consumed on-site for a corkage fee, allowing us to bring those wines that flirt with a prohibitive price tag into reach,” he continues.
With much-loved city chef Liz Young, formerly of Cambridge Cookery and now of The Modern Table, helming the kitchen, “similarly our menu hopes to bring outstanding quality at a reasonable price, so a night - or afternoon - of unparalleled food and wine matching can be a regular treat,” John adds.
Whether you’re enjoying an impromptu evening for two or a private party in The Wine Rooms’ cellar, which can accommodate 20+, seasoned sommeliers are on hand to advise.
“We believe that just as wine evolves in the bottle, so should our offering, and that is reflected in our ever-changing wine list and dynamic menus,” concludes John. “We are a place that will evolve and bring new flavours and experiences to the heart of Cambridge and hopefully breathe a new and innovative breeze through the vinous and culinary landscape.”
