Launch: Glemsford’s Willow Tree Farm opens cafe

It’s been home to a bustling farm shop since the 1980s and now, by popular demand, Glemsford’s Willow Tree Farm has a cafe, too. “If I had a pound for everyone who asked me why we didn’t have a cafe, I could probably have built one with the money,” says Deborah Russell, who runs the business with husband Michael, son Matthew and eldest daughter Hannah, who manages the shop.

Made possible by a Defra grant, awarded to businesses which generate rural jobs, the cafe has been two years in the planning and, with socially distanced tables inside and a large patio outside, it can sit 100 in good weather. The menu celebrates Suffolk-grown ingredients, including produce straight from the farm, and Sunday roasts are set to be a top seller.

Willow Tree Farm Shop is at Lower Road, Glemsford, Sudbury CO10 7QU. See willowtreefarmshop.co.uk for more.
