Described as “the pastry chef most stirred by the season’s harvest, starting with the early candy-pink rhubarb through to that last fuzzy yellow quince. . . A gem” by Observer Food Monthly no less, Tom Dolby is the brains behind Tom’s Cakes, the bakery business with branches in Somersham, St Ives and on Cambridge’s Mill Road.

If you’re craving the sweet stuff, good news: all three outlets are now open, offering takeaway, click-and-collect and delivery options. As well as baking whole cakes to order - Orange & Almond, Apple & Cinnamon, Hummingbird. . . - Tom and his team are offering three treat boxes: the Grab n Go box (six slices from the traybake range, £12), the Brownie Box (enough Chocolate and Salted Caramel Brownies and Nutella Blondies to feed six to 12, £15) and the Biscuit Box (three packs of home-baked biscuits, mixed flavours, £7).

All need to be ordered two working days in advance for collection from your nearest branch, unless you live in central Cambridge, where treat boxes can be brought to the door via @foodstufffcambs - see foodstufff.co.uk.
