Food: Smoke & Meat brings US classics to Cambridge
New Cambridge delivery kitchen Smoke & Meat is serving up "American smokey staples". . .
Fast racking up the five-star reviews for its “American smokey staples: burgers, ribs and wings”, new Cambridge delivery kitchen Smoke & Meat was devised in the last lockdown by a pair of friends and fellow chefs.
“During lockdown we found it hard to find tasty, consistent, hot, and speedy food delivered to the door,” explain Byron and Lakis. “There are a lot of places to choose from in Cambridge but, in our experiences, the majority don’t tick the boxes – you either get bad quality products but delivered hot and fast or a great quality product that arrives late and cold! Our goal is to tick all the boxes.”
Launching in June via Deliveroo and Just Eat, the menu is small but deliciously formed, offering six takes on a signature burger, made from a special blend of beef sourced from Sawston butcher B. Searle & Sons, and three versions - classic, smokey and fiery - of both buttermilk-brined, crispy-coated wings and dry-rubbed, slow-cooked ribs.
Sides include loaded fries, corn, beans, slaw and sauces, with cookies, cookie crack pie or triple choc brownie for dessert.
Citing their USP as “our signature Smoke & Meat sauce”, the pair plan to add a monthly burger special next: “Expect some pulled pork or slow cooked brisket topped burgers soon – keep an eye out!”
