Food: On the Wagon

Serving a full menu of cocktails - from cockle-warming Irish coffee to the sharp-meets-sweet Caramel Apple Martini - along with beers, ciders, wines, sparklers and spirits, The Wagon is the latest mobile bar to hit our area’s streets. The brainchild of Ely entrepreneur Elly Evans, it was inspired by her personal penchant for a good cocktail, together with her years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Investing in a vintage Rice horse trailer, with the help of her mum and partner she stripped it back - and turned it into a fully kitted mobile bar with an industrial feel and, being a triple-horse trailer, more space than you’d expect, including two serving hatches.

“It’s got the feel of your standard indoor commercial bar, with the added benefit of being absolutely beautiful and being able to take it anywhere,” explains Elly, who’s now taking bookings for 2020 parties, public events and weddings across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk, too. “Whether it be a naughty Irish coffee to warm up your party or plenty of popping Prosecco for a special cheers, The Wagon can supply.”

With nibbles and toasties also available, Elly says her current pick of the drinks menu, which can be tailored to the season and event, is The Paloma, a “refreshing and delicate” tequila and grapefruit number. “We’re looking forward to an exciting year,” she adds.
