Food: Newmarket's festival goes virtual

Newmarket Food & Drink Festival - one of the region’s largest, which attracted more than 15,000 visitors last year - will take place in virtual format.

The physical event, scheduled to take place at new venue The Jockey Club Rooms in September, has been cancelled in light of coronavirus. The plan, says chairman Noel Byrne, is to replace it with a virtual version, featuring many of the celebrity chefs set to headline at the 2020 festival - the line-up included Cambridge celebrity chefs Daniel Clifford and Tristan Welch, as well as long-standing Newmarket favourite Rosemary Shrager.

“We are looking to develop a virtual offering, brought together by many of our exhibitors and chefs that were due to be taking part originally, which we hope to announce in the coming weeks,” says Noel. “Plus we have already begun planning for a bigger and better 2021 festival!”
