Bake Off's Ian Cumming will feature at the Suffolk Spring Craft, Food & Gift Fair, as Velvet discovers.
The line-up has just been announced for the Suffolk Spring Craft, Food & Gift Fair - and it’s delicious. With Bake Off’s Ian Cumming and Saira Hamilton, the MasterChef finalist famed for her Bengali-inspired flavours, headlining in the demo kitchen, you’ll also be able to hear talks from field-to-fork expert Daniel Bunting and the team behind craft brewery Turpin’s, before browsing, sampling and buying from stalls selling everything from artisan edibles to arts, crafts, homeware and gifts.
All’s housed under the one roof - the iconic Millennium Grandstand at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile - and open 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday, April 4 and 5.
Oakleigh Fairs, organiser of the event, is also holding a spring fair at the famously beautiful Cressing Temple Barns, Braintree, on the weekend of March 28 and 29, this time with TV’s Sophie Grigson and MasterChef’s Yui Miles doing cookery demonstrations, and Cressing’s acclaimed gardening team on hand to answer questions and give tours of the barns’ walled gardens. Again, there will be dozens of stalls showing and selling lovely lifestyle wares, too.
Tickets for the Newmarket event are £4 in advance and £5 on the gate, with accompanied under-18s going free. Tickets for the Cressing fair are £5 in advance (£4 concession) and £6 on the gate (£5 concession), again with accompanied under-18s free. No dogs, aside from assistance, are allowed at either event. If you’re an artisan food or drink producer, artist or crafter and want to show and sell your wares at one of Oakleigh’s 2020 events - they are hosting fairs across the year and the country - the team wants to hear from you: call (01206) 263088 for date, venue and pricing details.
Oakleigh’s sister company, The Shopping Pavilion Co. Ltd., also hosts shopping marquees at some of the country’s biggest and best-loved county shows, offering, says the team, a huge footfall without the stress for stallholders (they look after the admin and legwork). To find out more, again call (01206) 263088.
