Food: Join the Club
Founded more than 30 years ago to preserve great British puds, The Pudding Club is about to embark on its first nationwide tour - and it’s stopping at Bury’s Best Western Priory Hotel.
With The Pudding Master introducing each dish, a light main course will be followed by the club’s signature ‘pudding parade’: sticky toffee and date, syrup sponge, spotted dick, very chocolate, apple crumble, marmalade bread and butter pudding and lemon meringue pie (Bird’s Custard optional).
Based at Chipping Campden’s Three Ways House, The Pudding Club’s famous Friday night events are a regular sell-out; guests can even opt to stay over in one of the hotel’s seven pudding-themed rooms.
“Back in the 1980s, if you were to go to a hotel or restaurant the dessert trolley would contain the likes of cheesecake and crème caramel – and supermarkets would offer desserts in tin and your Angel Delight,” explains Pudding Master Emma Gibson.

“We wanted to maintain the traditional pudding, and over the years more and more people have wanted to come along. We’re delighted to be expanding its offering this autumn and would encourage anyone who has a sweet tooth to grab a ticket and join us.”
Best Western Priory Hotel is at Mildenhall Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP32 6EH. Tickets for The Pudding Club event, which takes place on November 8, are on sale now at puddingclub.com/#pudding-night, priced £29. For every ticket sold, £1.45 is donated to Shelter.
