Food: Chef Ben brings luxury cheesecakes to Bury

Cheesecake company Crumbs is the latest addition to Ben Hutton's culinary empire

Ben Hutton, the Bury St Edmunds chef behind Ben’s Restaurant, has launched a cheesecake business. Called Crumbs, it offers mini, sharing and stacked cheesecakes and stuffed cookie pies too.

Operating from Queen’s Bar & Grill on Churchgate Street, which he also runs, Ben is offering both an order-and-collect service and, on Saturdays, off-the-counter sales.

Having pivoted Ben’s, also on Churchgate, into a farm shop during the last year’s lockdowns, the restaurant will operate as a for-hire venue going forward, and its field-to-fork menu will now be found at Queen’s.

With his cheesecakes coming with a signature ‘loaded top’, flavours include Caramel Chaos and Biscoff the Lot; stuffed dough cookie pies include Choco Orange, Honey I’m Comb and Oreo Overload.

Crumbs was born during the last lockdown, explains Ben: “It has been a year of change. We only launched Crumbs a few weeks ago; it is early days but hopefully it will grow quite quickly.”
