Food: Cambridge mum launches luxe brownie business

The Brownie Bar is fast winning fans for its fudgey, flavour-filled bakes - which can be ordered in 8in heart slabs for Father's Day

Cambridge mum Ayesha Gedara has turned her hobby into a business venture: The Brownie Bar. Sending home-baked sweet treats across the country, she only launched this spring but is already winning fans for her signature (biscoff, cookies and cream, chocolate orange, cream cheese, Nutella, peanut butter) and premium (double chocolate fudge topped with 24 carat edible gold) flavours.

“I used to bake mainly cakes, but I found I enjoyed baking brownies more,” explains Ayesha. “I have an 8-year-old son and he loves brownies too! Baking is a bit like therapy for me, to be honest; it takes my mind off all the tiring things going on around me.

“I thought I'd start a small business because the way I present my brownies is very unique and they are just so fudgey and melt-in-your-mouth. The core brownie recipe is my mom’s, which she used for years.”

Ayesha’s Father’s Day specials include double chocolate, topped with chocolate ganache, Maltesers and Kinder Bueno; biscoff, topped with biscoff ganaches and biscoff cookies; and Nutella, topped with Nutella ganache and roasted hazelnuts, all of which come in either an 8in slab or heart shape, both finished with a Happy Father’s Day gilded disc.
