Food: Back this bid to open a top-notch taco joint in Bury St Edmunds
Back Hannah Gregory’s bid to open TACOR, a new “neighbourhood taqueria” for Bury St Edmunds
Here’s some good food news: a top-notch taqueria could soon open in Bury St Edmunds. The brainchild of the town’s Hannah Gregory - MasterChef quarter finalist, worldwide private and pop-up chef and, of course, Velvet’s resident recipe writer - TACOR is described as “your local neighbourhood taqueria: stripped back, authentic, no pretence - just good solid tacos”.
Featuring a monthly changing menu, with market-led specials showcasing local Suffolk growers, it will be located in The Beerhouse on the former PizzaShed site.
Crediting a taco consumed in downtown Tulum with her “culinary awakening”, the dish has become Hannah’s signature: “When I entered MasterChef, my audition dish was, of course, a taco; my signature dish in my first round was a trio of tacos; and if I had made it to the final, you can be sure that dish would have revolved around the taco too. . .”
Hannah is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise the £25,000 needed for TACOR’s launch, with rewards ranging from merch to supper club tickets. Back the project before March 6 at kickstarter.com/profile/tacor
