Event: Tasty line-up for Newmarket Food & Drink

Showcasing the skills of producers and top chefs from across our region - including Mark Abbott, head chef at Cambridge’s two Michelin star Midsummer House - Newmarket Food & Drink Festival makes its in-person return this month.
Running in the grounds of the town’s famous Jockey Club Rooms from September 11 to 12, the event will see more than 60 East Anglian producers showing, sampling and selling their wares, spanning everything from street food and drink (Suffolk-reared buttermilk fried chicken from Peck in Bury St Edmunds, tipples from Cottenham-based horsebox bar Gentleman Jim’s) to artisanal groceries (Newmarket sausages from town butcher Powter’s, ice cream from Hadley’s in Lavenham, sauces from East Coast Chilli Company in Ipswich).
Along with Mark Abbott, the cooking stage will host TV’s Rosemary Shrager and Tristan Welch, head chef at Parker’s Tavern, and Cotto founder Hans Schweitzer, who’s cooked for the Queen, while Irish family band The Hooligans, the Cambridge Folk Festival favourites from Saffron Walden, will headline the live music stage.
Supported by The Henry Cecil Open Weekend, which takes place across Newmarket the following weekend and gives visitors the chance to go behind the scenes at the famous home of horseracing, entry to the festival is free - the cherry on the cake!
