Event: Cambridge Chocolate Festival is back!
It's the food of love: what better date for Cambridge Chocolate Festival than Valentine's weekend? Read on for a taster. . .
We all need something to look forward to: roll out the bunting, then, for the return of Cambridge Chocolate Festival. Back for a second year and relocating to The Orator at Cambridge Union, it’s running February 10 to 12, promising everything from stalls, talks and tastings to chocolate cocktails.
Media partnered by Velvet, the programme starts on Friday with a shopping night in the historic Debating Chamber, complete with themed cocktails and goodie bags for the first 20 guests through the doors. The cocktails will also be available in The Orator’s public bar and restaurant, where a chocolate-inspired menu is to be served.
The main event will then run 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, with confirmed stallholders already including Anisa & Chocolate (known for bean-to-bar), Bitesize Bakehouse (gourmet marshmallows and handmade chocolates) and The Linton Kitchen (cakes and bakes).
The line-up for the Talks & Tastings Room will include Mama Bombon, set to share stories from her global chocolate travels, and the team from La Latina Bustaurante, who will demo a traditional - savoury - hot chocolate. The first 50 arrivals on Saturday will also scoop a goodie bag.
The brainchild of Riadh Falvo, founder of Cambridge boutique chocolate brand Bumble & Oak and regular Velvet contributor, the festival started life last year with an event at Histon Smokehouse and proved a sell-out success.
Ahead of the expanded 2023 event, Riadh is calling for local artists to design a new #CamChocoFest logo - with a £350 cash prize going to the winner. Inviting entries from all artists, from students and new graduates up to full-time professionals, a shortlist of five designs will be put on display - and to the public vote - at the festival. The winning design will be immortalised not only as the official #CamChocoFest logo, but also in the form of Riadh’s first tattoo!
Entrance will cost £2. For updates follow @camchocofest
