Baking: Take a class with Suffolk's Two Magpies
Famed for its bread, cake and cafes, Two Magpies has now opened its own bake school. Here's what you need to know. . .
Have you always wanted to bake your own sourdough? Focaccia? Bagels? Pretzels? Croissants? Doughnuts? Then take a class at Suffolk’s new Two Magpies Bake School.
Already famous across the region for its bakeries and cafes - it has branches in Aldeburgh, Southwold, Darsham and Norwich - Two Magpies has just cut the ribbon on a sister bake school at its Darsham site.
With half and whole-day classes tailored to people of all skill sets, from complete beginners through to accomplished home bakers who want to expand their repertoire, every bake imaginable is covered, including gluten-free, Scandinavian-style and classic Continental.
“Each class allows bakers to gain more confidence, learn new skills or hone existing expertise,” say the Two Magpies team, helmed by husband and wife Rebecca Bishop and Steve Magnall. “Every course is taught in a relaxed and informal environment by experienced bakers with a focus on demystifying baking techniques, experimenting and applying lessons learnt to the home environment - and guarantees you'll come out of class inspired, educated and laden with goodies.”
