Weddings: Details to make your Big Day a dream
Newly engaged and in need of inspiration? Make the Big Day magical with a fairytale frock, elegant accessories, stunning shoes, precious jewels and fine food
SATIN AND SPARKLE
During last summer’s lockdown, Jamie Brogden – Dune London’s Head of Creative - was so inspired by the vibrant camellias and winding ivy flourishing in his garden, he sketched a pair of beautiful ornate bridal shoes, adorned with pearls and jewels. The elegant heels are now part of Dune’s 18-piece ivory satin bridal footwear collection, complemented by a range of matching clutch bags.
Released in January, the SS21 wedding collection exudes femininity and romance, with Dune London’s signature shoes reworked in luxury ivory satin and hand-embellished spiderweb lace, with crystal-encrusted flower corsages, and iridescent mother of pearl embellishment.
There’s a variety of heel heights and silhouettes, with latex and memory foam sock linings for cushioned comfort on the big day. Plus, with a nod to tradition, each shoe features a blue jewel on the sole. Footwear prices range from £130 to £250 and bags £80 to £195.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE
If you grew up dreaming of one day wearing a shimmering princess dress (and quite possibly some glass slippers) to marry your Prince Charming, then it’s time for your ‘happy ever after’.
Brides By Solo in Newmarket has become an exclusive stockist of Disney Fairy Tale wedding gowns (quite a coup as there’s only a handful of UK stockists), so brides can emulate the magical style of their childhood heroines.
There’s nine dreamy dresses, based on fearless Disney favourites, including Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Jasmine and Pocahontas. Think shimmering mermaid trains, romantic billowing ball gowns and flattering fit-and-flare styles.
Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? We’d have to say Rapunzel – a stunning, ethereal gown with feminine cap sleeves, an abundance of soft flowing chiffon and tulle, and a dramatic floor length sheer ribbon, which reimagines Rapunzel’s cascading braid. Divine.

LITTLE PIGGY KITCHEN
Since launching Little Piggy Catering back in 2010, Charlie McLaughlin has earned a reputation for her exceptional informal dining style, focusing on bold flavours, feasting and grazing.
However, when the first lockdown hit last March, her wedding and events diary was decimated. Luckily, most of the bookings were rearranged, and ever-resourceful Charlie diversified into occasion takeaways, before launching Little Piggy Kitchen, last September, at the company’s Longstanton HQ – offering the best in modern dining.
Charlie and her team had been inviting couples to the restaurant for pre-wedding tastings for five years prior – and had received glowing praise for the scrumptious food and relaxed service. So it’s no surprise Little Piggy Kitchen quickly became a hit. “We have a beautiful space with a lovely ambience and guests love the intimate feel and the delicious set menus, which changed each week, and included a Persian feast, street food tapas and a steak night,” explains Charlie.
During lockdown, Little Piggy Kitchen offers takeaway, and the restaurant will reopen when restrictions lift.
Meanwhile, Little Piggy Catering remains based very much on farmer’s daughter Charlie’s love of slow cooked meats, and world flavours, with exciting vegetarian and vegan offerings a new speciality. In December, Charlie and her team were awarded Wedding Caterer of the Year 2021 (East of England) in The Wedding Industry Awards. “We are super proud of this achievement; it’s all the more important given that the award is voted for by all the happy couples for whom we have catered for recently,” says Charlie.
