Fashion: Walden boutique Blue talks spring trends
Greek brands are big for spring/summer says Hayley Attridge, founder of chic Saffron Walden boutique Blue, which stocks a stunning selection of independent British and European designers
What inspired you to launch Blue?
“I always had a passion for fashion, and it was my dream to have my own shop. In 2011 I decided to bite the bullet and do it. It's been challenging, and I have learnt a lot along the way as I had no retail experience other than being a great shopper, but I've made it work, and we've survived the pandemic and feel stronger for it.
Tell us about your specialities. . .
We love Danish fashion, although we also stock a lot of European brands. We have clothing, jewellery, handbags, shoes and accessories, plus a small homeware product range that we will be expanding this summer with the edition of cushions and towels by Devotion Twins.
Which are your favourite brands?
Greek brands are very strong in the summer for us. Devotion Twins and Greek Kori are key summer pieces.
What makes Blue unique?
We are an independent boutique and pride ourselves on excellent customer service with a relaxed atmosphere. And we have pieces for everyone's budget.
Tell us about three new spring/summer looks coming into the store that you're excited about?
We have lots of new brands this season. Brodie Cashmere is amazingly soft and luxurious and features cashmere sweaters with bold colours and bright neons, as seen on many celebrities. Great Plains fashion reflects the trends but at an affordable price, along with Compania Fantastica, a Spanish brand that's fun and trendy.
If you could wear one outfit from your own store, what would it be – and where would you go in it?
Definitely this Greek Kori dress, which I’d wear on a Greek Island while enjoying a large glass of Rose!
Blue is at 32 Kings Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1ES. Call (01799) 513315 or visit bluesaffronwalden.co.uk
