Fashion: Social life is back. Here's what to wear

It’s been a long hard winter and our wardrobes have been all dressed up with nowhere to go. Spring and an easing of lockdown (fingers crossed) bring possibilities of getting out and about. So, what are we looking forward to wearing, doing – and who with?

Has your wardrobe been in hibernation throughout lockdown?

Yes, my own wardrobe has most definitely been in hibernation throughout lockdown. I have missed wearing my purchases – a lot.

What are you most looking forward to wearing for summer?

I am hugely excited about being able to wear shorts in warmer weather. I absolutely cannot wait to wear my recent purchase from Sezane.

Where would you love to wear them to and who would you like to be with?

I would love to go and lounge on a deck chair on the beach in these shorts, to get some much-needed Vitamin D and warmth. It would be great to go to the beach with my girl gang and have a day out – which we haven’t enjoyed since the beginning of the new year.

Has your wardrobe been in hibernation throughout lockdown?

Yes, unfortunately my jogging bottoms and smart shirts have been the only things to see the light of day when on a Zoom meeting.

What are you most looking forward to wearing for summer?

The M.A.B.E Farrah sundress is on my must-have list, as I am hopeful for a summer getaway. I adore the lace inserts, elastic waist and frill tiered skirt. A new brand for Javelin is Greek Archaic Kori and their styles are beautiful.

Where would you love to wear them to and who would you like to be with?

I just want to be lounging on an island and dancing on the sand with all my friends around me.

Has your wardrobe been in hibernation throughout lockdown?

Certain elements of my wardrobe have been in lockdown with me. It’s definitely not been a time for high heels or dresses, but I’ve had full use of my denim, cashmere and trainer wardrobe pieces during the latest lockdown in the depth of winter. Running a fashion boutique means my wardrobe was bulging at the seams so it has undergone a massive edit with many items on their way to new forever homes via charities and re-sale websites. I have definitely missed the face-to-face contact with friends and family for drinks or dinner dates – especially as I have friends who are also mad about fashion and we love to dress up at any opportunity.

What are you are most looking forward to wearing for summer?

I love this Jailene summer dress from new label, Joie! It’s utterly feminine and so wearable all throughout the summer either with strappy sandals or trainers and a cute denim jacket for off duty days.

Where would you love to wear them to and who would you like to be with?

We have a holiday planned to France with friends at the end of August so I fully hope my suitcase will be locked and loaded with this little beauty on board and on its way – fingers crossed.

Anna Kreeger, founder of fashion brand M.Hulot.co.uk

Has your wardrobe been in hibernation throughout lockdown?

Yes, the special pieces have! I do love casual clothing, but my jeans and jumpers have had far too much wear over this last year and it does feel rather uninspiring. I miss wearing dresses and being more creative when choosing and putting together an outfit each morning.

What are you are most looking forward to wearing for summer?

The gradual release from lockdown has coincided with new product launches from my own brand, M.Hulot. I am itching to wear our Lyn Dress out and about. It’s relaxed in style, so the comfort factor is still there, but the romance of the excess fabric, oversized silhouette and light, swishy nature makes it feel very special. I have missed statement bags and that impactful piece that finishes off an outfit. I’m definitely going to bust out my Yellow Hulot Pouch Bag for drinks with friends.

Where would you love to wear them to and who would you like to be with?

Although I live in Cambridgeshire, lockdown has meant country walks have been the norm and I’ve only visited Cambridge city centre once since last March. Drinks with my oldest friends in central Cambridge are well overdue and top of my list. I’m dreaming of cocktails by the River Cam or overlooking Parker’s Piece – and I can’t wait.

Julie Kervadec, marketing manager at Grand Arcade, Cambridge

Has your wardrobe been in hibernation throughout lockdown?

It has, and I have missed being able to dress up for a special occasion, whether professional or personal. But the lockdown was an opportunity to revisit my wardrobe, look at what I cherish the most, donate or sell the rest, and reflect on what I really need. I only bought a few second-hand pieces online at the beginning of the lockdown, and I have been waiting for Grand Arcade to reopen to enjoy a shopping experience in store. I miss being able to see and touch products before buying as it helps me decide if it is a long-lasting piece for my wardrobe.

What are you are most looking forward to wearing for summer?

The Mother of Pearl dress for John Lewis & Partners. I like this brand because it celebrates sustainability and creativity with purpose, by using a strong traceability process throughout their entire supply chain and looking at their materials’ impact on the environment.

Where would you love to wear them to and who would you like to be with?

I would love to wear it this spring or summer, while travelling and being reunited with my family and friends who live abroad. I have not seen most of them for more than a year, and truly missed them.
