Fashion Shoot: We're staying home in style

Celebrations may be scaled back this year, but that’s no reason to skimp on the sequins this Christmas. Shooting on location at Chippenham Park, the Grade II listed wedding venue on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border, Velvet’s contributing fashion editor Rohiny Belani puts on the glitz

Top Notes

As we are spending more time at home, and many of us are prioritising comfort and ease when getting dressed, a festive feel can still be attained with a great pair of coloured trousers and a touch of sparkle in your top. A look that will champion you into spring 2021 too.

Follow Suit

A jumpsuit can be zhuzhed for festive season with jazzy headgear - and what better investment than a black jumpsuit, a timeless piece in your wardrobe all year round? A jumpsuit combines elegance with being both comfortable and forgiving; ideal for Christmas Day indulgence.

Lady in Red

As Vogue put it: “Revolutions are ignited by it, the camera loves it and people go to court over it – no other colour has the extraordinary appeal of red.” A classic red dress has holiday and festivities written all over it. Pair it with a lovely coat to keep you warm.

On Location

A privately-owned Grade II listed property set in 300 acres of parkland, Chippenham Park has won plaudits for both its lovely landscaped gardens and one-of-a-kind wedding services - last year, it took the title Outdoor Venue of the Year in the bridebook.co.uk awards. Offering exclusive use of the property and the skills of a dedicated wedding planner too, Chippenham Park has been hosting ceremonies and receptions for eight years.

“Chippenham Park has been in our family for over 250 years. We live – and work – here with our three children, as well as dogs, chickens, sheep and pigs,” say owners Hugo and Becca Nicolle. “When you have your wedding here, you’ll feel like part of the family too. We’ll take time to get to know you as a couple. And we’ll help you plan the wedding you’ve always dreamed of, down to every last buttonhole.”

Based near Newmarket, on the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire border, the Park is offering special micro wedding deals for winter 2020-21 while guest numbers remain limited in line with Government guidelines.
