Beauty: Success for Salon at No5
Advertisment Feature: Business continues to blossom at Salon at Number 5 as the team create a wow-factor floral shop frontage, win a clutch of awards and open a dedicated Skin Clinic in Harston. Owner Lucy Argent chats to Velvet
We hear that your gorgeous shopfront is the toast of Instagram?
For 2020, I decided it was time to brighten up the High Street. After months of planning over Christmas, an installation date was set for a flower shop frontage. Working with a prestigious London company, cherry blossom flowers were installed early February with our main aim for this year to be ‘Instagrammable’. Life is too short to be boring! Since the flowers went up, the response has been overwhelming, not only with people taking photos of the salon or a selfie, but also noticing our brand. We have had so many people visit the salons now the flowers have gone up. Customers can take a selfie and tag us when passing for a money off voucher.
What’s the latest news from your salons in Cambridge and Newmarket?
2019 saw our talented make-up artist, Ella Tebbutt, crowned the winner of the War Paint Make-up championships in the Real Beauty category. Later in the year she placed third in the Brush Wars make-up competition. She was already such an inspiration, but is now highly recognised in the industry, even being scouted to work for London Fashion Week. Ella works out of our Newmarket salon and offers professional make-up for any event, plus make-up lessons.
In December our area manager, Katie Wright, attended the prestigious National Business Women’s Awards, where she won Employee of the Year. This has been a great example set to not only our salon teams, but to other women in any job, showing the rewards of going above and beyond. Katie has always been an asset to the Salon at Number 5 team – and we are so happy she has received recognition for her hard work.
Aren't you soon to sit on a prestigious judging panel yourself?
Yes, I’ve been invited to judge the National Hair & Beauty awards. I can’t wait to share my knowledge as an expert in the field. As a previous winner of the titles Businesswoman of the Year and Mentor of the Year, I’m so looking forward to being a judge. It’s an area I am incredibly passionate about.
Can you tell us about your new Skin Clinic, which opened last year?
2020 has a huge focus on our Salon at Number 5 Skin Clinic, based in the most beautiful coach house in Harston. We are now open Tuesday to Saturday and offer all beauty treatments. Our main focus is skin, so we offer the ultimate in skincare and luxurious therapies with results-driven brands to transform skin. We also offer eyelash extensions, LVL lash lifts, gel bottle nails and HD brows. Why not pay Laura a visit – away from the hustle and bustle of town? There’s ample parking.
We hear the team has just got bigger?
Yes, we’ve welcomed more members, including our new resident hairdresser at the Newmarket salon. Fran Hayden has blown us away with her skills – pardon the pun! Hairdressing is Fran’s passion and her colour transformations are one-of-a-kind and flawless.
We have also added to our treatments the new and exciting trend of brow lamination. This is the ultimate solution to tame messy brows as well as create fullness and volume. Be sure you get booked in for this fabulous treatment. We have even more plans for expansion in the next coming months. Follow the salons on social media for up-to-date news on all our exciting plans.
