Beauty: Meet the Poundstretchers

Looking a million dollars without breaking the bank is easier than ever. Lisa Millard picks the products that save the pounds

British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask, £18, The Body Shop, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds

First let’s talk fragrance – pop the lid to be met with the scent of a rose garden bathed in dew. Leave the (vegan) real rose petal, rose essence and rosehip oil-infused mask on for 10 minutes, rinse and reveal plumped and satin-soft skin.

Ultraplant Facial Cleanser, £12.50, Lush, Lion Yard, Cambridge

A gentle cream – referred to as liquid gold – combining jojoba oil and orange blossom water to remove make-up and cleanse skin. Wipe off the waxy cream with a damp face cloth leaving your face fresh and hydrated without feeling dried out.

Botanics Triple Age Renewal Night Cream, £7.87, Boots

An absolute steal, this night cream is nourishing and anti-ageing and punching way above its price. Infused with purple orchid extracts that help to plump and hydrate the skin, some converts claim this pot is just as effective as more expensive night creams.

Nuxe Very Rose 3-in-1 Hydrating Micellar Water, £15, John Lewis, Grand Arcade, Cambridge and johnlewis.com

Delicately scented, this rose water is suitable for dry and sensitive types and removes make-up and the remains of the day while softening skin. And it’s so pretty.

Light Touch Facial Oil Serum, £10, Lush, Lion Yard, Cambridge

Genius – packaging-free antioxidant-filled serum-in-a-bar combining a toner and moisturiser. Glide the bar gently on cleansed skin (or rub between hands before applying) to calm and comfort before applying moisturiser. Great travel companion.

Erborian BB Crème, £16, and Erborian CC Crème, £18, uk.erborian.com

These two products were made for each other. The Korean skin therapy brand’s BB is a high definition radiance cream and really does make skin pop. The CC formula comes in three shades with an SPF25 and, though appearing white, adapts to your skin tone. It really does work wonders.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% plus EGCG, £5.80, theordinary.com

A high-quality product at a bargain basement price point, The Ordinary is worth exploring. This solution is formulated to reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, and the concentrated dose of caffeine works to wake up the delicate skin around the eye. It’s meant to be effective on reducing the appearance of cellulite too but I’d need a bigger bottle.

No7 Laboratories Hydrating Skin Paste, £18, Boots

A great bedtime companion, the Skin Paste will super hydrate skin while you are sleeping soundly. Hyaluronic acid is locked in with ceramides to reduce dryness and plump it up. Wear overnight a couple of times every week and you will wake up looking and (hopefully) feeling fresh.
