Autumn Ladies' Day: Meet the woman crowned best dressed at Newmarket
Saffron Walden Zoology grad Megan Downes beat hundreds of hopefuls to be crowned Newmarket's best dressed at yesterday's Autumn Ladies' Day.
Megan impressed judges with her elegant yet fashion-forward look, featuring an ASOS leopard-print jumpsuit and finished with yellow heels from eBay and halo hat by Ana Bella Millinery.
"I am surprised, amazed and very grateful – it’s been a fantastic day," said Megan. "I came with my mum today and she was selected in the top 10 too – she looked lovely."
Megan has honed her Style Awards skills over the last few years: she's previously made top 10 and top three in the July Festival competition, but this is the first time she's taken the top spot.
Soham police officer Amanda Ward came second, with her striking fur hat and matching fur-trimmed cape, while Londoner Chrissy Murray, director of a flooring company, took third with her Zara trouser suit.
The judges - official milliner to the event Ana Pribylova, of Ana Bella Millinery; style blogger and influencer Jill Gregory of Her Timeless Style; and Velvet editor Alice Ryan - said the competition was more fierce than ever this year, with entrants striking an impressive balance between classic race-day dressing, the season's top trends and their own personal style.
