Nutrition – On The Map In 2012

Article by Amanda Locke, Fat Loss & Wellness Clinic

January is always full of New Year resolutions and fresh starts, but how do you know where to start, with so many fad diets floating in and out every year?

Luckily for you, I have put together my predictions of the nutritional and weight loss trends for 2012…

Fat Busting and Health Promoting
This has to be Number One! Weight Loss will become more about preventing lifelong illness.

The Fat Loss & Wellness Clinic tackles your energy levels, immune health and digestive health, cholesterol, blood pressure plus all the other unwanted aliments that are causing havoc with your health.

Healthy Eating Out
More restaurants and cafés will listen to the demand for healthy foods.

As consumers we have become more aware of the impact food has not only on our weight but also our health.

‘The Pantry’ in Newmarket are really embracing locally sourced foods, foods to suit the season and the dishes are amazingly tasty.

You will always find a healthy option on their menu that will not ruin your current healthy eating regime.

Fat
This year people will leave the ‘fats are bad for you camp’. The low fat diet trend has lead us down a path of unnatural, high sugar, processed foods that lack vital nutrients but are instead full of deadly trans fats and corn syrup.

The fact that we avoid natural fats over these types of foods is ludicrous!

Natural, organic fats are needed for improved cardiovascular risks (yes you read this correct!) hormone

regulation, bone health, immune health, lungs and a healthy brain.

Veg for Breakfast
Breakfast foods will be defined in a different way.

Turning our backs on sugary carbs and grains as we seek out a more nutritious breakfast that includes protein, fibre and fat, we will see people eating vegetables or last night’s dinner leftovers for breakfast.

How about a nice omelette with spinach leaves, pine nuts, full fat cheese and chicken for breakfast! Yum! Or a beef tomato with slices of mozzarella & mushrooms drizzled with olive oil.

Continental breakfasts often contain cold meats and boiled eggs. Breakfast doesn’t have rules! .
