London Fashion Week – The Preview
In the British fashion calendar, there are two weeks out of the year that are circled in red pen – otherwise known as London Fashion Week!
The event is held bi-annually; once in February and again in September, and the build up is certainly hectic.
Designers (not to mention guests and press!) drive themselves to distraction; planning and prepping the collections, invites, models, venues and parties for months out of each season, in order to ensure each catwalk event runs smoothly.
For those lucky enough to get an insight into the world of industry fashion at its finest, the experience is enriched with the knowledge that not only have you been close enough to smell the action, but you’ve also seen next season’s collections ahead of the rest of the country!
Catching a glimpse of the shows at London Fashion Week is a huge advantage to anyone working within the fashion industry; however, admittance is on an exclusive invitation–only basis, meaning the general public usually have to wait weeks for the trends to hit the high street before they can gain access to them.
Fortunately for Velvet readers, we know how important it is to keep you up-to-date on the latest trends before they happen – so we’re going to let you in on the inside information!
Velvet will be reporting live from the event at Somerset House as of the 17th February, so look out for blog posts and tweets across that week for the hottest trends, looks and styles of A/W 2012.
